Johnna Mauro

As an E-RYT 500 and Yoga Therapist with a background as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and Whole Person Coach, I offer a holistic approach to wellness that merges ancient yogic wisdom with modern therapeutic understanding. My teaching is rooted in the principle of "revolutionary gentleness," focusing on nervous system regulation, mobility, and the cultivation of resilience. I am deeply committed to the power of community-centered healing. Whether I am leading yoga therapy for recovery at local addiction centers or guiding a group class, my goal is to help students reconnect with their body’s innate wisdom and rediscover their inherent sense of completeness.

CLASSES

YIN YOGA

WEDNESday mornings from 11:00a to 12:00p

Yin yoga is a slow, passive style of yoga where poses are held for 3 to 10 minutes to safely stretch deep connective tissues like fascia, ligaments, and joints. From a therapeutic perspective, Yin is less about "stretching" and more about functional mobility and nervous system regulation. We use a variety of props to support your unique anatomy, ensuring that the stress applied to the connective tissue is safe, controlled, and effective.

YOGA NIDRA: The Art of Conscious Relaxation

Last WEDNESDAY of every month - 6:00p to 7:00p (starts May 27th)

Discover the transformative power of Yoga Nidra, often called "Yogic Sleep," a profound guided meditation that offers deep restoration for the modern mind. Practiced entirely in a comfortable reclining position, this session systematically transitions your brain from active Beta waves to the healing Delta states associated with deep sleep—all while you remain consciously aware. By soothing the nervous system and triggering the parasympathetic "rest and digest" response, Yoga Nidra helps reduce cortisol, alleviate anxiety, and improve sleep quality. Whether you are looking to reduce anxiety, manage chronic stress, or catch up on missed rest—with some suggesting 30 minutes is as restorative as four hours of sleep—Yoga Nidra offers a powerful sanctuary for the body to heal itself. No movement or experience is required; simply arrive as you are, lie down, and be guided into stillness.
